A Frozen Bird

'Fifi, open!' somebody knocked firmly at the door. 'Quickly!'
'I'm coming!' called Fifi and rose from the armchair. 'What's happened?' she asked when she saw frightened Pufa and Fufa, who held something wrapped in a fluffy scarf.
'It seems to have frozen to death!' cried Fufa.
'Who?'
'The bird. We have found it lying on the snow. Its eyes are closed and it is cold.'
'We must check, if its heart is beating,' ordered Fifi. Then she listened to it for a long time and touched the bird, until she exclaimed, 'It's beating! The heart is beating, so I hope, it will live.'
A while later other friends came to Fifi's house. They were all absorbed by the fate of the bird and talked almost in a whisper. At last it woke up, it opened its eyes and peeped, 'I'm thirsty.'
'Hurrah!' called the friends. 'It is alive! We promise to take care of you and of all birds. From now on no bird in our forest will suffer hunger', said the friends solemnly.

Zmarznięty ptak

- Fifi, otwórz! - ktoś mocno pukał do drzwi. - Szybko!
- Już! - zawołała Fifi wstając z fotela. - Co się stało? - zapytała widząc w drzwiach przestraszoną Pufę i Fufę, które trzymały coś zawiniętego w puszysty szal.
- Chyba zamarzł na śmierć! - zapłakała Fufa.
- Kto?
- Ptak. Znalazłyśmy go leżącego na śniegu. Ma zamknięte oczy i jest zimny.
- Trzeba sprawdzić czy bije mu serce. - zarządziła Fifi. Później długo słuchała i dotykała ptaka, aż w końcu zawołała - Bije! Serce bije, więc mam nadzieję, że będzie żył.
Chwile później do domu Fifi dotarła reszta przyjaciół. Wszyscy przejęci losem ptaka mówili przy nim prawie szeptem. W końcu obudził się, otworzył oczy i pisnął - Pić.
- Hura! - zawołali przyjaciele. - Żyje!
- Obiecujemy, że zaopiekujemy się tobą i wszystkimi ptakami. Od dzisiaj żaden ptak w naszym lesie nie będzie głodował. - powiedzieli uroczyście przyjaciele.
